Cleric Decries Rising Population of Fatherless Children

By Ukpong Ukpong

Pastor Vincent Chiori, the General Overseer and senior Pastor of Abundant Life Ministries, Uyo has decried the growing population of fatherless children in Nigeria and blamed it on young career women who have adopted a rather strange culture of raising children independent of fathers because they are financially buoyant. The man of God while preaching at the Fathers' Day celebration in Four Square Gospel Church, along Akan Bassey Street, off Afaha Ube, Itam expressed displeasure over this ugly trend and lamented that, “growing up without a father is like growing up without your head. It takes a mother two times as hard to train a child without its father”.
Pastor Chiori who drew his inspiration from Eph. 3:14, 15 disclosed that God is the ideal father figure for all men to emulate.
He lamented that most fathers have become susceptible to false prophets who pronounce their children witches and charged them to vehemently reject such pronouncements. “It does not matter what people call your child, what you say about them is what matters because God has given you authority to snatch your child away from powers of darkness or claws of wickedness” the man of God declared. He maintained that fathers owe their children a responsibility to live a life that would not disappoint them.
