2011: Group Sues Support For Akpabio

By Edet Dickson

In fulfillment of its avowed promise to build up support for governor Godswill Obot Akpabio in 2011and beyond, a foremost political group in Etinan local government area, “Iman Ibom Support For Good Governance' (IIBSFOGG) last Tuesday began its mobilization campaigns with the inauguration of ward and village chapters in the area. The formal inauguration ceremony was performed by the national officers and some patrons of the groups, led by its national chairman, pastor Andrew Uwanta who took the campaign train to all the six wards in northern Iman, beginning from Ekom Iman headquarters of Iman North Ward one, to Ikot Ebo in Urban ward one.
In the campaign train were eminent politicians like Elder Eseme Essien, Dr. Friday Etuk, Dr. Bassey Etuknwa, Engr. David Eka, Pastor Ufon George, Obong Emmanuel Titus, Sylvester Udoh, Dr. Ekpedeme Ekproh, Obonganwan Rose Peter, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Obot, Obong Iwo Udofot, Abraham Akpan, Ekong Etuknwan, Rev. Ekom Robert, Ekong Smart and all the councilors and supervisors in Etinan local government council, among others. In his brief remarks at each of the wards inaugurated, pastor Uwanta admonished all the ward officers and village coordinators to campaign exhaustively for governor's second term because of the good things he had been able to do for the people of Iman Ibom and the entire state in the past two years.
Pastor Uwanta told them to carryout total, massive, effective and convincing mobilization of the people of Iman Ibom, beginning from the family, ward, chapter, state and national levels, as a mark of appreciation to the governor for appointing some Iman Ibom sons and daughters into key positions in his administration. The national chairman reiterated in each of the wards that the groups was formed basically to create awareness among the people on the need to persuade chief Godswill Akpabio to accept to continue in 2011 and beyond, as explained by Mr. Paul Ekpo, the progenitor of the group during its birth at Nkana recently. “We are not out to build up support for anybody who is nursing any political ambition but the group is exclusively for the purpose of persuading governor Akpabio to continue with his developmental strides in 2011 and beyond”, he said.
He further explained that the group was not out to fight any other group, nor anybody's political ambition “but we are solely and purely for governor Akpabio because of his love for Iman Ibom people” The national chairman of the group also advised the ward officials and the village coordinators to be loyal, patriotic and active in carrying out their responsibilities in all the nooks and crannies of their various wards, adding that the group would not hesitate to drop any of them found wanting. In all the six wards so far inaugurated, the chairman, on behalf of others, in their separate remarks, thanked the progenitor, Mr. Paul Ekpo for his vision to create the platform for the people to use in expressing their appreciation to governor Akpabio and pledged their total loyalty, dedication and support to the group to meet its set goals.
