By Treasure Ita, Calabar
Akwa Ibom Democratic Voice (ADV) Cross River State chapter has urged all Akwa Ibom people to support the second term bid of Governor Godswill Akpabio come 2011
The Coordinator Cross River State chapter of the organisation, Dr. Oscar Umoh made the call at the occasion of the formal inauguration of the state's chapter of the organisation, at the cultural centre, Calabar
According to him the call became necessary in view of the vast and relevant projects undertaken by the governor, saying that Akpabio should have some more time on the Hill Top mansion to be able to complete what he has started as continuity is understood in the concept of the ability of an administrator to complete the laudable projects of a previous government, while initiating his.
According to Dr Umoh, “if we bear this in mind, it will be quite simple why ADV should strongly support continuity and mobilize the people of Akwa Ibom State to file behind governor Akpabio, so that come 2011 he will be returned to the government house.
The coordinator stated further that the inauguration has proved sceptics wrong as the yearnings of the people for the ADV in Cross River has been actualized.
Dr Umoh maintained that the new leadership would become a source of strength for ADV as the chapter was set to mobilise all Akwa Ibom people in all parts of the state to persuade Akpabio to run for a second term in 2011adding that the governor, has done excellently well for Akwa Ibom people and deserves to be celebrated.
He also remarked that ADV represents good governance, democratic ideals and continuity even as it is the fastest growing organisation in recent times, adding that ADV has observed in the last two years, how that democratic ideals and good governance has been prioritised by the Akpabio's leadership in the state hence its move to rout for his continuity in 2011.
Chairman of the occasion, professor S Antai stated that Akpabio's administration has changed the face of dirt in Akwa Ibom, adding that even the interior areas of the state such as Ibaka,in Oron which had long been neglected; either by virtue of “blind politics” or deliberate negligent but has totally been considered by Akpabio for a sea port.
He also praised the governor's projects on roads, drainage etc. saying that the menace of erosion which had hitherto plagued the state about two years ago is now history.
Chancellor of ADV, and the international coordinator, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibok chared the new exco to align the good governance ideals of the national and preach the gospel of continuity of Akpabio in 2011who has shown tremendous goodwill for the Akwa Ibom people.
He warned that members of the new exco would be strictly monitored to ensure they abide by the regulations of ADV as anyone found wanting in the discharge of his duty would be thrown out.
