As Christians the world over are commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and also celebrating his resurrection after the death and ascension into heaven,
the minister of the Gospel, Pastor U.U Umoren has cautioned the Christians to celebrate the season with the fear of God and not to use the period to indulge in social vices inimical to the peace, growth and development the society. Pastor U.U Umoren of The Apostolic church, recently transferred from Lawna territory, Lagos state to Akwa Ibom, handed down the advice yesterday in while exchanging views with The Sensor At-Weekend on the significance of Easter. In his words” In the Christendom, any moment we hear of Easter, we remember the suffering, death, burial and resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ which was mainly for our redemption. Easter is not a period to involve in immorality or any form ofevil. We should have passion for righteousness” he stated. Pastor Umoren who admonished Christians to see the festive season as the sanctification period and to reconcile with people also urged the ministers of God to use of resurrection power of our Lord Jesus Christ to pray against insecurity in the state and ask God to watch over the city. The servant of God who described Christians as regenerated children of God called those who only confess to be Christians by their lips and not by practice and faith to refrain from such pretence and hypocritical behaviour, but use the Easter period to turn a new leaf if they must need change in their lives. He however challenged other ministers of the gospel in the state to always preach the truth and repentant messages especially to those in the position of authorities and not to be lured or entized by their wealth or influence, adding that the society needs total cleansing through this period.
