The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom in the Federal House of Representatives, Otuekong Ita Enang and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in Uyo Senatorial District while reacting to last Saturday's loss of Uyo Federal House seat to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN has assured that in the coming election, some local government in Uyo that fell to the ACN will be reclaimed.
Analyzing the result of last Saturday's Federal House of Representatives elections in Uyo, Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom, Ibiono/Itu federal constituencies, he said the PDP led with a total vote of 101,808 while the ACN received 77,295 votes maintaining that this shows the PDP still has an upper hand in the area.
Assuring of PDP's victory in coming elections, he said “In Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Ibom, and Itu LGA, ACN supporters are making frantic moves to join the line having seen that the PDP is now sweeping votes at the polls with the broom.”
“We assure Akwa Ibom people that on the 16th we will show the dominance of the PDP and on 26th we will take over all the local governments of the other 4 local governments that strayed back to the fold of the PDP, he maintained.”
He said this is possible because in last Saturday's National Assembly elections, “In Itu the difference was 1,600 votes, between ACN and PDP, in Uruan it was 500 votes, in Uyo it was 8,000 votes difference.
Therefore, when you consider 700,000 votes of PDP against 100,000 votes of ACN, mathematics will tell you that we are in control.”
Moreover, he said the results so far in Uyo Senatorial District and the overall result in all the constituencies and senatorial districts where elections have taken place shows that PDP is in control of Akwa Ibom State.
With an overall result of 1,   for PDP and ….. for ACN, Otuekong Ita Enang explained that PDP has over 86% of votes cast and in subsequent elections including the Governorship, the PDP will win convincingly.
While thanking the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District for respecting the agreement to allow Ibibios who control two and Annangs eight of the ten local government areas to produce the Senator in 2007 and 2011, he urged the Ibibios in the interest of peace, justice and fair play to also in line with the agreement vote overwhelmingly on April 26th, 2011 to return Governor Godswill Akpabio to office.
He called on Akwa Ibom people to read the elections results beyond the state and see that PDP is winning across the nation while ACN is reclaiming the South-West  and position themselves for participation in national politics.
Enang said since Akwa Ibom people are in the character of belonging to the majority party, the PDP, it will be wise for them to vote massively during the Presidential election on April 16th, the Senator for Uyo Senatorial District and Governor on April 26th.
Also speaking at the event, PDP Board of Trustees member, Atuekong Don Etiebet urged Akwa Ibom people to continue to live in unity and peace as handed down to them by the forefathers of the state.
Recalling the accord between Ibibios and the Annangs in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts for the majority Annangs to relinquish the Senate seat to the minority Ibibios for the two terms when Governor Akpabio will be in office, he expressed gratitude for the overwhelming voting of Senator Aloysius Etok in last Saturday's National Assembly elections.
Etiebet therefore urged the Ibibio nation to demonstrate the same faith in the accord by voting for Governor Godswill Akpabio massively in the April 26th Governorship election saying in a recent PDP manifesto published, Governor Godswill Akpabio's leadership style and achievements were rated among the best in the country.
He also said in Governor Akpabio's first term in office, he had proved to be a detribalized leader ensuring that all the ethnic groups in the state were treated fairly in terms of appointments and siting of projects maintaining that Akwa Ibom people in voting for him will ensure that development continues in the state.
According to him, the PDP is the only party which has rotation in its constitution and this has been entrenched in the accord between the Ibibios and the Annangs for peace to continue to exist in Akwa Ibom State.
In his contribution, the PDP South-South zonal Vice Chairman, Chief Edet Nkpubre noted that PDP is a dominant party in the state and will remain so advising the people to shun ethnic politics being introduced by some persons into Akwa Ibom State.
A PDP stalwart, Otuekong Sunny Jackson thanked God for returning the glory of Akwa Ibom people through the Governor Akpabio led administration insisting that in Akwa Ibom there is no history of ethnicity as the people have always seen themselves as one.
Otuekong Jackson who said in every democratic setting the opposition is welcome however advised that bitterness should not be introduced into the polity and urged the Akwa Ibom people to vote for Governor Godswill Akpabio in the coming election so that they can continue to enjoy dividends of democracy.
In his comment, the winner of last Saturday's National Assembly elections in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Sen. Aloysius Etok expressed gratitude to Ikot Ekpene people and particularly the Annang nation for giving him a total vote of 383,607 votes which he said is the highest in the entire country so far.
