The family head of Ikot Essien, Chief Sunday Tom Ebong, his Ikot Obong counterpart, Chief Friday John Akpan and that of Ikot Abasi Udo, Chief Samuel Akpan Ekanem, all expressed confidence in the leadership qualities of the new royal father.  “Chief Item was nominated and presented to the people based on his leadership qualities. We will give him maximum support”, one of the family head told The Sensor. They urged all that contested for the position of the village head but lost to Chief Item to him join hands with to build a rebranded Obio Ndot Community.

He also thanked the people for the confidence reposed on him and promised not to let them down. He also assured the people of open door administration as everyone will be carried along in taking decision as regards the affairs of the community. He however solicited for cooperation of all to enable him pilot their affairs.
However, as it is the case in a typical Nigerian society, whereby losers in an election protest, two out of four candidates that contested as village heads protested the conduct of the exercise, saying the election was inclusive. Chief Moses Idem Ekpo and Iniobong Japhet told The Sensor that they were not satisfied with the way family heads and leadership of the village handled the election, saying it was unacceptable. They called for another election so that a true winner can emerge.
