Boko Haram: Ex-lawmaker Condemns Kano Bombing PDF Print E-mail

The immediate past leader of Ukanafun legislature, Elder Elijah Sampson Akpan has condemned the spate of bombing in some parts of the country by a religious sect, Boko Haram. Reacting to the recent bombings in Kano State which has claimed many lives, the former leader described it as unfortunate and called on the president to re-organise the security agencies so as to contend the current challenges. It is high time President Jonathan re-organized all the security agencies in the country. The crisis in the country is getting out of hands he said.
On the forth coming local government election, the former leader who is a strong contender for Ukanafun chairmanship seat stressed the need for Peoples Democratic Party in Ukanafun to allow ward eleven produce the next chairman as according to him, the ward has never tested the position be it an appointment or elected.
The foremost chairmanship contender said given an opportunity to lead Ukanafun people, he will consolidate on the achievements recorded so far by the Governor Godswill Akpabio administration. He commended the governor for giving Akwa  Ibom people a sense of belonging through massive infrastructural development in the state.
He however promised to have more focus on the development f rural committees if elected. This, according to him will drive development to the rural areas. In a related development, Elder Elijah Akpan says he will give women more opportunity to express the talents if elected as the chairman of Ukanafun. He stated this recently when women group from all the eleven wards in Ukanafun paid him a courtesy call. He expressed gratitude to the women for the visit.
