The Cross River State Government through its Special Task Force on the monitoring of petroleum products distribution has warned owners of Filling Stations in the habit of selling fuel at an exhorbitant rate; beyond the approved N97 per litre to desist or be sanctioned.
The warning according to the Secretary of the Task Force, Mr. Patrick Ele Agbara, has become necessary in view of the continuous sale of the product above the pump price of N97.00 per litre by some marketers.
Mr. Agbara warned that since the price is now a law, it must be adhered to and advised those still in the habit of selling above the official rate of N97.00 per litre to desist forthwith or be ready to be sanctioned when caught.
The Secretary also reminded marketers of the need to ensure that their metres are accurate and called on the DPR to intensify effort in checking the accuracy of metres in all filling stations across the State so as to ensure that the masses get exactly what they pay for.
He also reminded all filling stations of the need to provide their outfits with stand-by generator, fire extinguishers as well as ensure the aesthetics and face-lift of their stations as this he noted will promote the urban renewal effort of the State Government.
