The Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has advised youths to be actively involved in sports activities.
This was an appeal made by the National Ex-officio Member Sport Writers Association, Mr. Justice Udousoro during the 2011 year end business launch organized by the NNPC/MOBIL for media professionals at the RnR Restaurants IBB avenue Uyo yesterday.
While describing sporting activities as a means of achieving global diplomacy, Mr. Udousoro urged youths to eschew violence, use their time wisely and rather get involve in sport activities in their various environments.
Appreciating the kind gestures exhibited by NNPC/Mobil for celebrating media professionals in the state he called on Mobil to contribute towards sporting activities in the state.
He also drew the  attention of Mobil Joint Ventures to put an end to gas flaring as this is dangerous to health.
Commending the effort of the Governor Akpabio led administration, Mr. Jameson from the Ministry of Information and communication noted that Mobil Joint Ventures assisted journalists in the state to attain certain level.
In his response the manager Public and Government Affairs of NNPC/Mobil, Mr. Akaninyene Esiere commended journalists in the state for excellence performance; he encouraged the use of laptops by journalist for effective publication.
In his words of appreciation the chairman, NUJ Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Joe Effiong expressed appreciation for kind gestures exhibited by the Mobil Joint Ventures for celebrating journalists in the state. He also solicited for support from the company.
